Presentation
This amphora was re-used in the funeral area of Palazzetto to hold a deceased newborn, like a final cradle. This item, initially used for food storage and trade, thus became a burial receptacle, according to common practice in Roman times. After carefully sawing off the neck of the amphora, the body of the child was placed inside it. The amphora was then placed in a pit closed off by a thick brick arranged lengthwise. No items are associated with this tomb.
