Conference on Archaeological Survey

We are delighted to invite you on Saturday, October, 11th 2025 at 2:30 p.m., free admission, for a conference on "Archaeological Survey: Discoveries in the Prunelli Valley (2A)" by Nadia Ameziane-Federzoni, PhD in Prehistoric Archaeology from the University of Corsica, head of the company Archéo-île, associate member of UMR 5608-TRACES

The diachronic inventory survey is a pedestrian survey aimed at precisely locating archaeological sites whose remains are visible on the surface. A survey program led by Nadia Ameziane-Federzoni, supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Collectivité de Corse and the Regional Archaeology Laboratory, made it possible to explore the Prunelli Valley (Southern Corsica) from 2019 to 2023. Numerous previously unknown sites were identified and located in the municipalities of Bastelicaccia (24 sites), Ocana (26 sites) and Tolla (17 sites), between 50 and 1.500 m in altitude. They were linked to the Neolithic, the Bronze Age, Antiquity and the Middle Ages, thanks to the presence of standing architectural remains (enclosures, fortifications) as well as movable remains (lithic, ceramics, glass), brought to light by natural erosion phenomena or agricultural activity.
These scheduled investigations provide information on settlement and movement patterns in the Prunelli Valley over the different periods. These fragile and precious data complement the national archaeological map.
